From the desk
Pressed North is an independent culture journal with ink on its sleeves. We visit studios, workshops, rehearsal spaces and small rooms where people are making something before anyone calls it a scene. The work itself matters, but so does the arrangement that lets it continue.
We publish with room for process. A piece may include a failed proof, a conversation that takes a side route or a list of materials because those details show how an idea became physical. We do not chase a grand theory when a close look will do more.
This issue begins with a print studio in Winnipeg, where drying racks make a slow horizon across the room. The subject is screen printing. The real story is the practice of staying with a surface until it begins to answer back.
